TERRENCE Romeo has been reinstated in the roster of Far Eastern University after being slapped with an indefinite suspension by the team during the preseason.
Head coach Nash Racela confirmed the suspension on Romeo has been lifted as the combo guard already played with the Tamaraws in their last three tune-up matches after failing to suit up for the final few games of the team in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.
“He is responding positively to the suspension,” Racela shared to Spin.ph.
Romeo, one of the Tamaraws’ primary scorers who was a member of the Mythical Five selection in 2011, was meted with a disciplinary action by the team for arriving late for one of the school's games in the Filoil tournament.
With the return of Romeo, Racela said the team can now focus on its preparations for the UAAP men’s basketball tournament, with less than three weeks remaining before Season 76 unfurls on June 29.
“We can now focus on building relationships now that we are complete,” said the FEU rookie mentor.
Romeo’s comeback should be a big boost for the Tamaraws, who lost center Russel Escoto for the coming season after he suffered an ACL injury during his D-League stint.
The Tamaraws remain one of the teams with a solid backcourt following the reinstatement of Romeo, who will continue to play alongside equally-talented point guard RR Garcia, a member of the Gilas cadet pool who will be playing in his fifth and final year with the Morayta-based school.
With their sights set on a Final Four return, the Tamaraws open the season against newly-crowned Filoil champion University of the East Warriors.
