Blow for Stags as Sangalang ruled out

San Sebastian center Ian Sangalang will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedure in the next few days.

SAN Sebastian’s bid for the NCAA men’s basketball title suffered a blow after big man Ian Sangalang suffered a strained left knee ligament when he slipped on the court during the Stags’ practice on Sunday.

The 6-foot-7 center was in street clothes and wore a strap around his knee during the Stags’ game against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Monday.

He’s expected to miss a few games.

Sangalang is scheduled to undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedure in the next few days, but considers the injury “not serious.”

A member of the Stags’ vaunted Big Three, Sangalang is confident his team will still be fine even in his absence.

“Tiwala pa rin ako sa team ko,” said Sangalang, who will be replaced in the starting lineup by Michael Miranda.
