NATIONAL University held Adamson to the lowest point output in the UAAP's modern history, dealing the sorry Falcons a 62-25 beating on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Bulldogs grabbed the solo lead in the team standings with their fourth win in five games to leapfrog Ateneo and Far Eastern University after the terribly lopsided game that set a couple of scoring records.

The Falcons shot just 16 percent from the field, making three, eight, six, and eight points in each quarter in a scoring output only seen in the college league during the pre-war, pre-shot clock era.

Prior to Adamson’s lopsided defeat, the lowest known scoring output by any team in the league was 39 points made by University of the Philippines last year and National University in 2011.

NU coach Eric Altamirano was left shocked by the result.

“Nasabay lang siguro kasi when we watched Adamson, they were really shooting the ball well. They weren’t shooting well (today). Nasabay lang ‘yung defense namin,” said Altamirano.

The Bulldogs were already leading, 19-3, in the first with Don Trollano as the lone scorer for the Falcons in the quarter. NU led, 40-11, at halftime.

No one scored in double figures for Adamson with Trollano tallying seven points. Adamson never led as it trailed by as many as 39 points in the game.
