CHARLES Mammie missed the Filoil Premier Cup preseason match of University of the East against La Salle on Saturday after being meted with a disciplinary action by the Red Warriors’ coaching staff.

Coach Derrick Pumaren said the Sierra Leonean center didn’t attend the team’s practice early Saturday morning prior to its debut against the Green Archers, leaving the newly-appointed mentor with no choice but to bench him.

“It’s a coach’s decision,” Pumaren said after the game, which the Warriors lost. “He didn’t show up for practice this morning so I have to draw the line.”

“The whole team practiced this morning and he didn’t practice today. I had to make a decision. I think it’s unfair for the other guys who attended practice,” said Pumaren.

Previously, Mammie had been benched by Pumaren’s predecessor Boycie Zamar once during a PCCL game last year due to what he said was an "attitude problem."
