THE finer points of the major trade involving big man Japeth Aguilar are now in place and only the go-signal of Globalport team owner Mikee Romero is being waited for the deal to finally materialize.

“Na kay Mikee na yan. Si Mikee na lang ang tanungin ninyo kung ano na ang desisyon niya,” said a high-ranking official of San Miguel Corp., who’s the one on top of the negotiations for the Gin Kings' acquisition of the 6-foot-9 Aguilar.

Multiple sources told Spin.ph members of Globalport management are now in constant communication with their young top executive regarding the matter.

A source bared that one of the teams involved in the deal is doing some last-minute haggling for one more player from a SMC-owned ballclub before sealing the deal.

“Pero malamang sa Tuesday maisakatuparan na iyan. Nag-uusap pa kami,” another source added.

Under the proposed trade, Ginebra will ship rookie big man Yousif Taha and a future first-round pick to Globalport for Aguilar.

Globalport will then beef up its frontline by acquiring Jay Washington from Petron in exchange for rookie wingman Jason Deustchmann.

The Kings are also going to unload Elmer Espiritu in a separate trade with Barako Bull for a future pick.

“Matagal nang pinag-uusapan iyan. ‘Oo na ba ngayon o kailan natin itutuloy iyan?’ Yun na lang pinag-uusapan at this point.”
