BARANGAY Ginebra on Wednesday bolstered its backcourt in time for the PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs by acquiring Josh Urbiztondo in a trade with Barako Bull.

Team insiders said the deal, which the two teams have agreed on just a day before the league's trade deadline, will see Barako Bull get rookie Keith Jensen and a future second-round draft pick in return.

The trade papers are expected to reach the Commissioner's Office for approval on Wednesday night, the source added.

Once the deal is approved, Urbiztondo is expected to shore up the backcourt of a Ginebra team that is still awaiting the return of injured star guard Mark Caguioa for the playoffs.

Urbiztondo has already been informed of the trade and is expected to report to Ginebra practice on Thursday, according to player agent Danny Espiritu.

“Pinagre-report na si Josh sa Ginebra practice bukas,” Espiritu told Spin.ph“Minadali din yan eh kasi may deadline bukas di ba?”

Urbiztondo struggled as a starter with Barako Bull in the tournament but is expected to shine as a back-up to LA Tenorio together with veteran Jayjay Helterbrand.

It marks the second time in seven months that Urbiztondo has been involved in a trade, having been sent by another San Miguel Corp.-owned team, B-Meg (now San Mig Coffee), to Barako Bull in exchange for a first-round pick last September.
