A FAMILIAR face is now part of the Adamson Falcons coaching staff.

Kenneth Duremdes, the 1998 PBA MVP and former Adamson star, is now one of the assistant coaches of Leo Austria in the Falcons' campaign in Season 75 of the UAAP.

Duremdes played for the Falcons from 1990 to 1993 and was part of a team headed by twin giants Marlou Aquino and EJ Feihl that contended for trophies during that span.

Now, he is back with the Falcons on the bench.

“Meron silang sports management committee na nag-recommend sa akin,” said Duremdes, also a team official of the Powerade Tigers in the PBA. “Open naman ‘yung slot ni coach Leo as assistant kaya nabalik ako.”

Duremdes will be helping the players in developing their talents and individual skills. He admitted that his entry in the Falcons came late after he finished the campaign of the Tigers in the Governors’ Cup.

“Tinapos ko lang ‘yung commitment ko sa Powerade this conference kaya two weeks pa lang ako sa team. Medyo late na nga dahil dapat ginagawa ito during the offseason pero maganda na rin na andito na tayo at unti-unti natin gagawin ‘yung pag-develop ng player,” said Duremdes.

The Marbel, Cotabato native said it is a pleasure to return to his alma mater.

“Masaya dahil na-recognize nila na makakatulong ako sa team. Tska ‘yung suporta ng mga students, mga pari, parang bumabalik ‘yung dati. Bumabalik ‘yung mga memories nung naglaro ako sa Adamson,” Duremdes said.

Been hearing stories that Duremdes once averaged 30 points in the UAAP for Adamson. Totoo ba yun?

Sad to say but not even Captain Marbel can save this Adamson squad. This group of players simply won't be able to get it done.
