FAR EASTERN University big man Russel Escoto missed the whole second half of the PBA D-League quarterfinal match between Big Chill and Fruitas after suffering a left knee injury on Tuesday.
Escoto twisted his knee while playing defense in one sequence during the first half. Initial prognosis on the injury had Escoto spraining his MCL, which will require a minimum three weeks to heal.
However, FEU coach Nash Racela said the team is scheduling an MRI on Escoto to determine the extent of the injury.
The third-year center averaged 4.0 points and 4.1 rebounds a game last season with the Tamaraws, but is expected to play heavy minutes this season after frontcourt partners Arvie Bringas and Mark Bringas were scratched from the team.
