FOUR GAMES will kick off the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament this Saturday, July 21, at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda-Mendiola campus.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles, last year’s semifinalists, clash with the Trinity University of Asia Stallions at 1:30 p.m. in one of two senior division encounters, while the Far Eastern University Tamaraws meet Angeles University Foundation at 12 noon.
In the junior division, defending champion Xavier School clashes with St. Joseph College at 3 p.m. while Trinity battles AUF in a 9 a.m. showdown.
A total of 34 school teams are listed, with the defending champions San Beda Red Lions among the 16 varsity squads entered in the senior division, while 18 are now registered in the junior side.
The tournament attracts mainly 'B' teams, with most entries coming from UAAP and NCAA member schools.
The competition is usually held during the ongoing collegiate season, and offers a chance for members of school farm teams to showcase their talents.
The participants are: (Group A)- AUF, Emilio Aguinaldo College-Manila, FEU, Mapua, National University, San Beda, San Sebastian-A, Technological Institute of the Philippines.
In Group B- Ateneo, Arellano University, Informatics, JRU, San Sebastian-B, Trinity, University of the East, and University of Perpetual Help-Dalta.
In the junior division, entered are Letran, Hope Christian High School, San Beda, Far Eastern University-FERN, University of Santo Tomas, Chiang Kai Shek Team A and B, UE, EAC-ICA- Cavite, San Sebastian, Adamson, Letran , St. Joseph-Bulacan, JRU and Trinity University of Asia.
