Marestella Torres
5'6 / Philippines
Birth Date: Feb 20, 1981
College: San Jose, Negros Occidental

Marestella Torres has been known to bounce back from dismal performances, and earlier this year she recently made up for a fifth place finish in the long jump competition of the second leg of the Asian Athletics Grand Prix by winning gold in the third and final leg in Thailand.

The 31-year-old from San Jose, Negros Oriental went to London hoping to make up for a rather anemic performance in Beijing.

Torres leapt 6.17 meters in Beijing, well short of her Southeast Asian Games’ winning jump of 6.31 meters the year before.

In London, however, it was pretty much the same.

Torres wound up falling way short of her personal best and 2011 SEA Games winning mark of 6.71 meters and out of the competition in the early goings with a 6.22-m leap. Torres eventually finished 22nd in a field of 30

Brittney Reese of the United States ruled the women’s long jump with a leap of 7.12 meters.
