GYMNASTICS president Cynthia Carrion has been appointed chef de mission of the Philippine contingent to the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia, Philippine Olympic Committee first vice president Joey Romasanta confirmed on Friday.
Carrion’s appointment was one of the key positions that was filled up by the POC on Friday during its first-ever board meeting of 2017 upon the re-election of Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco as president of the national Olympic body.
With her appointment as chef de mission, Carrion, a former commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission, will be tasked to oversee the country’s preparation and participation in the SEA Games which will be held in August in Kuala Lumpur.
POC treasurer Julian Camacho was appointed chef de mission for the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia while POC auditor Jonne Go was named chef de mission of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
