CALVIN Abueva was taken to the Makati Medical Center on Monday night after suffering a busted lip during the Gilas Pilipinas team practice at the Kerry gym in Bonifacio Global City.
The hard-nosed Alaska forward was accidentally elbowed by guard Almond Vosotros during the team scrimmage, leaving him with a bloodied lip.
He immediately went to the hospital to have it stitched up while Gilas was still in the middle of its practice.
"Maiksi lang naman yung cut pero malalim kasi kaya kailangan tahiin," said resident Gilas therapist Dexter Aseron.
Asked if the cut was serious enough to keep Abueva from playing, Aseron said he's 100 percent sure it won't sideline a guy as tough as 'The Beast.'
"Si Calvin pa," he said. "Malayo yun sa bituka."
