SPIN.ph's Sportsman of the Year Hidilyn Diaz basks in the limelight along with the Sports Heroes of 2016 awardees. 

RIO Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz led 10 sports heroes honored by SPIN.ph during its annual awards night held at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria last Saturday.

Diaz, named 2016 Sportsman of the Year, was joined by Ginebra coach Tim Cone, La Salle mentor Aldin Ayo, Rio Paralympics bronze medalist Josephine Medina, ONE Championship lightweight king Eduard Folayang and former PSC Commissioner Jolly Gomez.

Jaja Santiago, the NU middle blocker who was also one of the awardees, failed to make it but sent a video expressing her gratitude for the award. Other awardees not present due to their ongoing tournaments were the San Miguel Beermen, first Filipina chess GM Janelle Mae Frayna and June Mar Fajardo.
