ROGER Pogoy said he and his fellow seniors at Far Eastern University were determined not to end their UAAP careers on a losing note.
“Hindi kami sumuko kaya kami nanalo," said the Cebuano gunner, moments after combining with Mac Belo and Mike Tolomia to lead the Tamaraws to a 67-62 win over University of Santo Tomas in Game Three on Wednesday.
Pogoy had 14 points and six rebounds in the deciding match and was instrumental in a game-ending 14-3 run that enabled the Tamaraws to overcome a six-point deficit in the endgame.
The graduating FEU senior hit back-to-back baskets including a lay-up at cut University of Santo Tomas’ lead to 60-59 then added a huge triple that gave the Tamaraws the lead for good, 61-60, with 1:27 remaining.
Pogoy said the Tamaraws simply refused to lose.
"Sobrang blessed kami na kahit nahirapan kami sa fourth quarter, nakabawi kami,” said Pogoy. “Iniisip ko na lang na huling laro ko na kaya binuhos ko na lahat,” said Pogoy.
Asked about the key to the Tamaraws' success, he said, "Maganda ‘yung samahan namin.”
