RICCI Rivero deflected credit after another fiery scoring display on Wednesday in La Salle's win over Far Eastern University in UAAP Season 80.

Rivero led La Salle on offense for the second consecutive game, scoring a team-high 20 points as the Green Archers defeated the Tamaraws, 75-73, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

But the high-flying guard, who scored 19 points against Ateneo on Sunday, said his scoring came naturally as he focused more on defense, leading to five steals.

"Sabi ng coaches namin, just stick to the system and we get our offense through defense," said Rivero. "Lahat naman ng na-shoot ko, from defense siya, steal or defensive rebound. Siguro nag-pay off lang."

"It's not about the stats. Basta maglaro kami as a team and stick sa system, I'm sure gaganda ang outcome," he added.

Rivero hopes La Salle will sustain its fine play against FEU in the next games following a tough loss to Ateneo. The Green Archers will take on University of the Philippines on Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

"Sabi ni coach, start na kami uli sa next game versus UP, prepare uli kami. Sana tuluy-tuloy lang na maging ganun 'yung outcome as a team," said Rivero.
