JOLO Mendoza and Gian Mamuyac will be staying put at Ateneo after their stints with the school’s high school program.
Former Ateneo cager Von Pessumal took to Twitter on Wednesday to greet both Mendoza and Mamuyac for choosing to stay with the Blue Eagles along with Tyler Tio, who has also committed to Ateneo after his stint with Xavier School.
Ateneo team manager Epok Quimpo later confirmed to Spin.ph that Mendoza and Mamuyac are now part of the Blue Eagles pool.
“Great job @Jolointhesea + @Tyler_Tio + @mamuinthesea for choosing Ateneo. Enjoy the journey! #OBF,” wrote Pessumal on his Twitter account.

Mendoza and Mamuyac were vital cogs in Ateneo’s run at the Season 77 crown in 2015 as they joined forces with Mike and Matt Nieto to win the UAAP title against National University.
The season saw the Blue Eaglets sweep the elimination round before winning two out of the three finals games to capture the crown.
Mendoza later won Finals MVP honors.
However, Mendoza and Mamuyac had a disappointing end to their high school career as they failed to lead the Blue Eaglets to back-to-back titles, losing to De La Salle-Zobel in the stepladder playoffs.
Mendoza and Mamuyac will now be reunited with the Nieto twins in the seniors team of Ateneo, which recently hired Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tab Baldwin as replacement for Bo Perasol.
