JERON Teng scored half of his 18 points in the final quarter of La Salle's 80-76 win over rival Ateneo on Sunday night, but he has reasons to be prouder of what he did on the defensive end.
The La Salle lynchpin left a big imprint on defense in the game, holding down Ateneo counterpart Kiefer Ravena to a 7-fot-24 shooting game and forcing to take tough shots in the Blue Eagles' final two possessions.
Teng said he came in ready to defend Ravena especially in Ateneo’s last possession, where the King Eagle misfired on a side-stepping three-pointer from the top of the free-throw line.
“It was tough because I knew that the play would end up with Kiefer. You just really have to defend him,” said Teng.
La Salle coach Juno Sauler praised Teng’s defense on Ravena.
“I just told Jeron that Kiefer will find a way, whether it will be three points, getting to the basket, or pull-up. I just told him to find a away and make it tough for Kiefer to get those shots,” said Sauler.

“Jeron was able to sustain it until the end. I don't remember how many possessions Kiefer had the ball in the last two minutes but I saw Jeron just hustling on every play and challenging ever shot Kiefer was taking,” said Sauler.
