FAR Eastern University grabbed its first win of the UAAP Season 79 seniors basketball when it outplayed Adamson, 75-65, on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The reigning champions Tamaraws wasted no time bouncing back from their loss to La Salle in the season opener to improve to 1-1 (win-loss), tying the Falcons.
“It was a hard win. I think we had a good match-up against Adamson. Seeing them play against UP, at least, going into this game, we were able to guard their best players. We did well defensively,” said FEU coach Nash Racela.
Axel Inigo and Richard Escoto led a balanced scoring attack for the Tamaraws with 13 points each while Raymar Jose had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the reigning champions.
After finishing with 28 points, Jerrick Ahanmisi contributed 19 points for the Falcons in their second match of the season. Papi Sarr and Terrence Mustre added 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
The scores:
