KIB Montalbo, Prince Rivero and Brent Paraiso are just waiting for medical clearance to return to action with La Salle after sustaining injuries in the Filoil preseason tournament, according to Green Archers coach Aldin Ayo.

Montalbo hurt his knee, Rivero injured his right hand although both are just waiting for a go-signal from renowned orthopedic surgeon Raul Canlas.

“Si Kib, okay na pero nasa States si Doctor Canlas. Ayaw namin palaruin ’yung bata ng walang go-signal,” said Ayo.

“Si Prince, okay naman eh. Kaya lang siyempre, kailangan ng go-signal ng doctor,” said Ayo.

Paraiso, a second-stringer, is having back spasms.

The absence of Montalbo, Rivero and Paraiso was crucial in the loss to Ateneo as La Salle had a thin rotation.

The loss nearly cost them a slot in the quarterfinals. But two consecutive defeats by the Blue Eagles, and a win by the Green Archers over Letran in the final day of the eliminations allowed the Taft-based cagers to squeeze into the playoff round.

“Against Ateneo, kulang kami sa rotation. Yung tatlong injured na ‘yun, lahat nasa rotation. Kapag nawala yun, siyempre may kailangan mag-step up. Ateneo game ‘yun eh. Kapag Ateneo ang kalaban, you have to give everything against them,” said Ayo.
