CHRIS Newsome has pulled off some impressive dunks during games, but he unleashed his full high-wire act during a fun slam-dunk contest serving as sidelight of the 'Play4Coi' benefit match on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Competing against NU Bulldog Troy Rosario and Moustapha Arafat in the side event of the tribute match for the late former San Beda Red Cub Coi Mendoza, the Ateneo forward easily won by performing three dunks that wowed not only the fans but fellow players as well.
His most dazzling dunk, of course, saw the Blue Eagle run behind KIA guard LA Revilla who bounced the ball from the side of the backboard. The 6-2 forward caught the ball in midair with one hand THEN threw it down with authority, earning a 50 from the judges and cheers from delighted fans.
