THE PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals series between San Miguel and Rain or Shine brings back bad memories for big man June Mar Fajardo.

Albeit a very bad one.

The 6-foot-9 Fajardo went down with knee injury the last time the two teams tangled in the semis of the Philippine Cup after colliding with veteran forward Jireh Ibanes.

The injury kept him out for the rest of the series which the Beermen won, 4-2, and he was unable to return to action until Game Five of the finals against Alaska.

Although the memory still lingers, Fajardo said he's ready for the challenge of facing the Elasto Painters anew.

"Ganyan talaga ang basketball. Hindi ka naman puwedeng mamili ng kalaban," said the two-time league MVP, who was held to just nine points but on a perfect 4 of 4 shooting from the field while adding eight rebounds in the Beermen's 103-99 comeback win over Star Wednesday for a seat in the semifinals.

"Basta paghahandaan namin sila (Elasto Painters)."

For a while, Fajardo appeared to have hurt his knee during the game against Star after getting entangled with San Miguel import Tyler Wilkerson.

"Medyo ininda ko pero ok naman," said the Cebuano big man.

Fajardo said the team will take some rest going to its highly anticipated best-of-five showdown with Rain or Shine starting Sunday.
