RAFI Reavis came to the rescue anew as Star edged NLEX, 75-73, on Tuesday in their tune-up game at the Ronac gym in San Juan.

The veteran big man, who scored the layup that held Alaska to an 83-83 draw in their exhibition last Wednesday, replicated his heroics, tipping in James Yap’s missed jumper at the buzzer that proved the difference in the nip-and-tuck affair.

“(Our performance) was good, but NLEX played really well considering they didn’t have a lot of players with them,” Hotshots coach Jason Webb said.

Ian Sangalang registered a game-high 21 points, while Justin Melton added 12 markers. Yap rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Hotshots with 11 points.

Yap nearly sealed the deal at 73-71 after making a contested layup with less than 30 seconds to go, but Jeckster Apinan drew a shooting foul on the end then converted two charities to knot the count and set the stage for Reavis heroics.
