PAUL Harris tormented his former team as Barangay Ginebra walloped Tropang TNT, 127-114, in their tune-up game on Wednesday at the CCF gym in Pasig.
The former Texters import scattered 39 points, the last two on a breakaway layup, capping off the blowout victory that formed part of both teams’ preparations for the PBA Governors’ Cup tentatively set in the middle of next month.
"It feels weird," Harris said after the game. "I’m used to me and Harvey (Carey) playing together. I see Larry (Fonacier) on the sideline and I’m used to swing the ball to him and say, ‘Larry, shoot!’”
"But it’s life. Changes happen," he was quick to add. You got to be ready for adjustments at all times and I’m with Ginebra now. I’m thankful and blessed for the opportunity and I’m just trying to make the best of it."
Joe Devance and Sol Mercado added 18 apiece, Scottie Thompson chipped in 12 markers, while Mark Caguioa, Aljon Mariano, and reserve Frank Bonifacio had nine points each for the league’s crowd darlings.
The Gin Kings, missing Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar, gained a morale boost with the return of LA Tenorio, who rejoined the squad after being cut from the Gilas Pilipinas final roster to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, although the Gin Kings star playmaker stayed in the sidelines.
Mo Tatuaa led the shorthanded Texters with 36 points, while Asian import Michael Madanly added 26 markers in a losing effort.
