CHRIS Gavina offered Mahindra's win over Meralco in the PBA Philppine Cup on Wednesday to the ailing wife of coaching consultant Joe Lipa.

Gavina broke the bad news during the customary post-game interview following the Floodbuster's 105-92 victory over the Bolts.

The Lipa matriarch had just checked out of the hospital, according to Gavina, after being treated for cancer.

"I really want to dedicate this win to coach Joe and his wife, " said the Mahindra coach.

"Coach if you're watching this one's for you," Gavina added. "Tita, I hope you're feeling better."

It was the second straight win for the Floodbuster, who hiked their record to 2-5 and remained in contention for a playoff berth in the season-opening conference.
