The Tropang Texters and Gilas Pilipinas star took matters into his own hands in the endgame, scattering seven points in the last two minutes while delivering on the defensive end too with a crucial steal off Justin Melton that kept the Hotshots at bay during the Petron Saturday Special offering
Castro finished with 33 points on 12-of-24 shooting from the field, including a 5-of-9 clip from beyond the arc for the Texters, who notched a third straight win to improve to 3-1 (win-loss) and forge a five-way tie for the top spot with San Miguel Beer, GlobalPort, Alaska, and Rain or Shine.
The Hotshots fell below .500 with a 2-3 record.
James Yap converted an impressive layup off a spin that nudged the Hotshots to within 81-80, but missed a point-blank shot and a three-pointer that was way short in the next few possessions.
Mo Tautuaa wrote the exclamation point with a steal off Ian Sangalang, leading to a breakway slam that made it 90-82 with 30.8 seconds left.
