ALASKA coach Alex Compton made his sure his players felt his disappointment after they lost to Rain or Shine, 112-108, in Game Three of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday night.
Although declining to go into detail, Compton tried his best to stay calm as he pointed out his team’s lack of effort, particularly in a stretch when the Aces fell into a deep hole in the middle quarters.
“I’m not trying to point anybody out,” Compton said. “Let’s just say my displeasure, distaste was expressed, but it’s never personal with me.”
“I did feel some Bobby Knight-type outburst wanting to come out, but I was able to suppress those,” he added, referring to the fiery Indiana Hoosiers coach known for his hot temper.

Aces sniper Dondon Hontiveros felt the tension inside the dugout.
“Actually, nagpipigil pa nga si coach Alex eh,” the veteran shooting guard said, although admitting he heard his coach’s threatening message loud and clear.
“If hindi namin magawa ng tama coming sa practice at sa game, we’re not the right players (for the job),” Hontiveros said.
“The message na pinakta ni coach Alex, sinabi niya, the management at coaching staff, if hindi namin magawa, may mali na kami, parang ganun,” he added.
