SAN Beda is planning to put its 75-76 loss to University of Perpetual Help on Monday under protest over a technicality in one crucial play in the third quarter of their NCAA men’s basketball match.
The Red Lions are questioning a play in the third quarter that saw the Altas’ Kevin Olivera miss a shot that led to an offensive rebound and a triple by teammate Joel Jolangcob that gave the Altas their biggest lead at 63-49.
The Lions felt Olivera failed to beat the 24-second shot clock, but officials let the play go on.
“Upon review of the tape we saw that the ball was still in the hands of Oliveria and that there was no more (time left in the) shot clock,” team manager Jude Roque said. “That should have been already a shot clock violation.”

Roque said the Lions will raise the issue to the management committee.
“We're going to show them the tape of what we thought was the technical error in the 1:02 of the third,” he said. “If they called a shot clock violation that would have been a no-count. If they deduct that, that should have been a won game for us.”
The Lions signified their intention to file a protest after Lions skipper logged his signature in the official score sheet of the game.
“Perpetual deserved the win, but the problem is the commissioner, the referees, and the timers should know the technicalities of the ballgame,” Lions coach Boyet Fernandez said.
