RAYMOND Almazan was in his Rain or Shine uniform but didn't see action in the Elasto Painter's 118-112 win over Ginebra at the Cuneta Astrodome on Friday.

Although he was ready to play, Almazan was reduced into a spectator, giving his team a boost only from the sidelines.

Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia later explained he didn't want to gamble on his lanky big man, who is fresh from a week-long stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the Seaa Championship.

While Almazan was out training and playing for the national team, Garcia said the team revised some offensive plays before taking on the streaking Gin Kings.

"I don't wanna gamble on Raymond today," said Garcia. "Meron kaming binago sa plays, so we adjusted to plays without Raymond for one week. The coaches would tell me na ilaro si Raymond (pero di ko na siya pinasok)."

It turned out, Rain or Shine was fine without Almazan's services in Friday's match as the Elasto Painters overcame a 15-point deficit to claim their fifth win in nine games.

With their playoff hopes still alive, Garcia said he will definitely field in the former Letran star in their next game against GlobalPort on Friday next week.

"He's gonna play na next game," he said.
