FREDDIE Roach is set to arrive in the country on Tuesday as the training camp of Manny Pacquiao for his title fight against Jessie Vargas shifts to high gear.
The Hall of Fame trainer was supposed to be here as early as Sunday but had to delay his departure as he attended to a scheduled fight of one of his boxers under the Wild Card boxing stable.
Roach did get the consent of Pacquiao on the matter.
Already in the country ahead of Roach is strength and conditioning coach Justine Fortune, who’s been supervising the training camp of the 37-year-old boxing legend along with Filipino trainers Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri at the Elorde boxing gym.
Pacquiao has already begun to spar last week, and Roach is expected to supervise sparring session on the day he arrives.
The 56-year-old will have at least a full month to help the Filipino southpaw get into shape as he vies for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title belt of Vargas.
Team Pacquiao is looking to leave for the U.S. at least two weeks before the Nov. 5 bout at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
