TERRENCE Romeo is probably one of the few guys that coaches won’t mind being trigger-happy.

After all, GlobalPort coach Franz Pumaren lauded his prized ward for having the guts to take the dagger shot that lifted his team to a 107-106 win over Alaska in their playoff for the last PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal spot on Sunday night.

After Calvin Abueva gave the Aces a 104-103 lead with 21 seconds left, the Batang Pier sued for time and Pumaren drew up a play for either Romeo of import Justin Harper.

“Whoever would be available,” Pumaren bared in the post-game conference.

It was hardly a surprise that Romeo took matters in his own hands, gathering from the top of the key then launching over Kevin Racal for the go-ahead basket.

“We have to give credit to the guy, he's really willing to take the shot, that's why he's Terrence Romeo. In short, makapal talaga ang mukha niya,” Pumaren said with a chuckle. “It's a gutsy move.

“It takes one great player to be willing to take that shot,” he added.

It’s basically playoff time so it’s where Romeo should start making his mark ahead of their quarterfinal series against twice-to-beat Ginebra on Tuesday.
