CALVIN Abueva insisted he was not the one initiating excessive contact that led to several skirmishes on the floor in Game Two of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between Alaska and San Miguel Beer on Friday night.
The Aces’ energizer bunny was involved in a handful of those incidents, twice against fellow Kapampangan Arwind Santos who suffered a cut on his forehead after one rebound play in the Beermen’s 100-86 victory that leveled the best-of-seven series at 1-1.
Abueva and Santos were called for double fouls in the play.
But Abueva stressed he is only a recipient of the excessive physicality, implying it was the other way around.
“Kita niyo naman kung ano yung totoong laro sa hindi. Maraming nanonood,” he said curtly while walking out of the venue before excusing himself as he declined to grant a longer interview.
Abueva registered 11 points, nine rebounds, four steals, two assists, against three turnovers in 24 minutes, but was scoreless in the fourth quarter.
