SAN Beda had answers to everything Letran came up with as it hacked out an 81-74 victory on Tuesday for its third straight win in the NCAA Season 93 at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

After trailing 27-34 in the first half, the Red Lions used a huge offensive third quarter to take control before holding off the Knights’ multiple mini-rallies.

AC Soberano drained all four of his three pointers in the final 20 minutes, while JV Mocon was a beast on both ends of the floor.

“We started strong but in the first few minutes of the ball game, Letran came back so credit to them and they even led,” said San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez.

“I just challenged the guys in the locker room to stick with our system. Stick with our game plan and play as a team,” he added.

Back to back baskets from Mocon put the game away for good as the Red Lions took a 79-70 lead with just a minute left in the game.

It was an unfortunate finish for Letran which led by as many as 10 points in the second half but faltered defensively in the third quarter to give the momentum back to Letran.

Robert Bolick led the Red Lions with 22 points, five rebounds and five assists in nearly 39 minutes of action as his squad improved to 4-1.

JV Mocon flited with a triple double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while Soberano finished with 16 points.

Jerrick Balanza led the Knights with 20 points while Bong Quinto had a huge double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds to no avail as they dropped their second straight game, falling to 1-3 for the season.

Rey Nambatac had 18 points, JP Calvo finished with 14 but the rest of the Knights combined for only three points.
