Kobe Paras forced to withdraw from UCLA Bruins due to 'academic issue'

Kobe Paras abandons plan to play for UCLA Bruins due to 'academic issue'
Jun 30, 2016
Kobe Paras is set to join another Division I school, according to his high school coach.

KOBE Paras has abandoned a plan to play for the UCLA Bruins in the US NCAA Division I because of an 'academic issue.'

According to a statement released by the school, the Filipino teen phenom has 'withdrawn from the university due to academic conditions not being met,' although it did not go into details.

According to the principal of Los Angeles Cathedral High where Paras graduated, the high-flying 6-5 forward was an honor student in the school who had met all his NCAA requirements.

However, the problem may have been a 'SAT scoring issue,' John Montgomery told the Los Angeles Times.

His coach at Cathedral, William Middlebrooks, said Paras has decided to play for another Division I school.

Paras, who played for La Salle-Greenhills in high school, made waves in his only season at Cathedral High, leading to an invitation to join the Bruins under former Indiana star guard Steve Alford.
