San Beda officially names Jamike Jarin as new Red Lions coach

PH Youth coach Jamike Jarin named to replace Fernandez at helm of Red Lions

Jamike Jarin will be the new man at the helm of the San Beda Red Lions team, replacing Boyet Fernandez.

JAMIKE Jarin is now officially the new head coach of the San Beda men’s basketball team.

Red Lions team manager Jude Roque confirmed the development in a text message to Spin.ph, saying school officials, led by rector-president Fr. Aloysius Maranan, OSB, formally welcomed the national youth coach at the school grounds on Wednesday.

The appointment came two months after Spin.ph reported Jarin’s looming appointment last August.

Roque said Jarin will take over the coaching reins of the Lions after the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), where assistant coach Adonis Tierra will temporarily call the shots.

Jarin, a San Beda alumnus, replaces Boyet Fernandez and faces a huge task of guiding the tradition-rich squad, which owns the most men’s titles with 19 in NCAA history, to a sixth successive league crown next season.

But Jarin is no stranger to success, having led the Ateneo Blue Eaglets to numerous juniors’ titles in the UAAP and leading the national Under-16 team to the Fiba World Championship after an impressive runner-up finish in the Asian stage last year.
