THE Texas Legends failed to sustain a fiery start and got whipped by the Austin Spurs, 106-81, on Friday (Saturday, Manila time) in the NBA D-League Opener in Texas.

Ray Parks, debuting with the Legends in the Development League, went scoreless in 10 minutes off the bench. He had one rebound and two turnovers while missing both his field goal attempts.

The Legends led by as many as nine in the first quarter, 14-5, and kept control until late in the first at 22-15, but the Spurs kept their cool.

The Spurs held a 15-point at halftime, 46-61, and were up by 25 after three quarters.

Bryce Cotton led the Spurs with 23 points and five teammates also finished in double figures.

The Legends also had six players in twin digit scores, with Jamil Wilson, Brandon Ashley and Allen Durham registering 12 points each.

Highly touted Indian 7-footer Satnam Singh came up with four points on 2 of 4 shooting for the Dallas Mavericks' D-League affiliate.
