CEBU CITY – Day Two of Gilas Pilipinas’ training camp at the Hoopsdome was proceeding smoothly until Andray Blatche brought the goal down.

Literally, that is.

The 6-foot-11 naturalized player, who is trying his hardest to lose unwanted pounds in time for the Fiba Asia Men’s Championship in Changsha, China next week, caught the ball during one particular play which he capped with a huge two-handed slam.

But as the former Brooklyn Net came back down, the rim and the rest of the backboard came crashing down with him.

Much to the horror of Blatche and the rest of the Gilas players who were under the basket at that time, the goal collpased as the basket’s support buckled, both due to Blatche's sheer weight and the power of his dunk.

No one was hurt during the incident.

But before Blatche draws some more flak for his current shape, it should be noted that the same basket gave way a second time under the weight of a two-handed slam dunk by Calvin Abueva.
