Simon Atkins of Meralco have been loaned by Meralco to Cignal for the D-League Foundation Cup, but a similar move by Oping Sumalinog failed to get the PBA's clearance.

CIGNAL beefed up its roster in time for the PBA D-League Foundation Cup with the addition of Simon Atkins, but another target, Oping Sumalinog, failed to get clearance from the PBA.

Team manager Borgie Hermida confirmed Atkins has joined the team on loan from PBA team Meralco, adding they have already submitted the final lineup to the PBA on Wednesday morning.

Atkins is another welcome addition to an already formidable squad led by Jason Perkins, Pamboy Raymundo, and Davon Potts.

"Their addition solidifies the experience of the team," said Hermida.

Sumalinog was supposed to play for Cignal as well on loan from TNT KaTropa, but was transfer was not approved since he still has a live contract with the Texters, officials said.

The team, which will also be reinforced by new boys Dan Sara and Raymar Jose, is looking to complete a season sweep after topping the Aspirants' Cup.
