After championship double last season, Cignal Hawkeyes go on leave from D-League
Cignal won't be defending their D-League Aspirants Cup title

CIGNAL HD will not be defending its title in the upcoming 2018 PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup.

After pulling off a championship double the previous season, the affiliate squad of NLEX in the PBA has decided not to compete in the D-League’s Aspirants Cup next year, a team official confirmed.

"We will focus first on our PBA campaign and our grassroots basketball program led by the Road Warriors team," said Cignal team manager Borgie Hermida.

It also wasn't clear whether the Hawkeyes will return for the season-ending Foundation Cup.

"Wala pa plans. Pero for now, leave of absence muna kami," said Hermida.

Without the Hawkeyes, the Aspirant's Cup crown is up for grabs among the teams that will lock horns starting January 18.

The PBA has yet to release the official list of teams for the D-League’s opening conference.
