ANDRE Paras is making a basketball comeback as he is set to play for AMA Online Education in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
Based on the team lineups released by the league on Monday, the player-turned-actor will join the new-look Titans side that will also parade college standouts Teytey Teodoro, Renzo Subido, John Grospe, and Ivan Villanueva.
AMA coach Mark Herrera confirmed the news, saying the 6-foot-4 cager's addition will be a big boost to a team that also lost Jeron Teng and Jay-Taganas, who will now play for new team Flying V and Tanduay, respectively.
"Si Andre kasi big man na tumatakbo. He can really play offense and defense," said Herrera.
"I also have (Paolo) Pontejos and Teodoro ng JRU, Mario Bonleon, at Subido. Young blood muna kami ngayon," he added.
But will his D-League stint be in conflict with his acting career? Herrera said that they are still working on ironing out some possible schedule conflicts, but for now, Paras has been a diligent participant in the Titans’ buildup.
"Depende, inaayos namin and masipag naman kasi siya sa practice," he said.
The son of PBA legend Benjie Paras last played for University of the Philippines in the UAAP before moving to San Beda but as part of the Team B.
The season-ending conference starts May 25 but AMA will open its campaign against Aspirants' Cup runner up Racal on June 1 at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
