SINGAPORE — Ray Parks is determined to suit up for Game Two despite the latest injury to hobble him in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) playoffs.

Parks sustained a sprained ankle in his left foot in the latest setback of an injury-plagued debut season in the ABL, but is determined not to miss out on a must-win Game Two of the best-of-three semifinal series against the Singapore Slingers.

“I’m optimistic about it,” said Parks. “Kailangan i-diagnose uli. I just needed to do my job just to get back on the floor.”

Parks suffered the injury in the third quarter after rolling his ankle and never returned to the game. He finished with four points as Alab Pilipinas lost to Singapore, 77-67, in the series opener.

The ankle sprain was just the latest injury to hit Parks, who was already playing through a hip injury which he suffered during Alab Pilipinas’ final regular season game against the Kaohsiung Truth.

Parks plans to get enough rest while undergoing treatment for his hip and ankle injuries in order to be ready for Game Two on Friday at the Baliwag Star Arena in Bulacan.

“Ang advice sa akin, i-drain ‘yung fluid at kailangan ng steroid shot pero ayoko, kaya regular therapy na lang ako. Sana gumaling,” said Parks.

Parks said the hip injury has been bothering him since last week, which made him missed a few practices with Alab in its build-up for Game One.

“Puro ako X-ray, MRI, at ultra sound,” Parks described.
